Raisin rice

  • 500
    ml
    uncooked rice
  • water and orange juice
  • 2
    cinnamon sticks, broken
  • 125
    ml
    seedless raisins
  • 3
    ml
    turmeric
  • salt to taste
 

Method

 
Place rice in a heavy-based saucepan and stir constantly over high heat until rice begins to pop and change colour. Continue stirring for 2 minutes. Add half the quantity of water called for on packet instructions for rice and replace remainder with orange juice. Liquid should boil immediately. Add cinnamon, raisins, turmeric and salt and simmer until cooked.
