Piquant three-bean salad

Ingredients

  • 410
    g
    tin butter beans, drained
  • 410
    g
    tin baked beans in tomato sauce
  • 410
    g
    French-cut green beans or cooked fresh green beans
  • 1
    Tbs
    sugar
  • 1/2
    tsp
    mustard powder
  • 1
    Tbs
    canola or olive oil
  • 1/4
    cup
    white or brown vinegar
  • 1
    tsp
    dried basil
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
 

Method

10 mins
 
Mix the three tins of beans.
Heat the sugar, mustard powder, oil, vinegar and basil in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved. Stir continuously.
Pour the sauce over the bean mixture.
Season with pepper to taste and mix well.
Chill overnight or for at least 3 hours.
Serve cold.
