Pineapple beer

    pineapple, whole OR
  • 5
    pineapples, skins only, well rinsed
  • 800
    g
    sugar
  • 6
    Litres
    lukewarm water
  • 100
    g
    raisins
  • 10
    ml
    brewer's yeast (not instant)
 

Method

 
Cut the pineapple or pineapple skins into fairly small pieces. Dissolve the sugar in lukewarm water and add the pineapple and raisins. Sprinkle the yeast on top and leave for 30 minutes. Stir gently and leave for 24 hours. Strain through a muslin cloth and pour into sterilised bottles. Screw on the tops after 12 hours. Serve ice cold. Makes about 7,5 litres of beer.
