Ingredients (6)

65.00 ml honey
30.00 ml brown sugar
2.00 cinnamon — stick
350.00 ml wine — semi-sweet white
15.00 ml orange — zest only
4.00 pears — peeled, stalk intact

Method:

Place all the ingredients, except the pears, in a saucepan and cover. Heat slowly over low heat until the sugar has dissolved.
Bring to the boil, add the pears and simmer gently for about 30-35 minutes or until the pears are soft enough to be cut with a spoon. Cool the pears in the poaching liquid and serve with cream, if desired. Serves 2-4.
