Oyster sauce beef balls

    g
    lean beef
  • 65
    ml
    spring onion, finely chopped
  • 10
    ml
    garlic, chopped
  • 10
    ml
    fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 10
    ml
    Chinese 5-spice powder
  • 10
    ml
    thick soy sauce
  • 15
    ml
    sunflower oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • 1
    onion, halved and sliced thickly
  • 1/2
    pineapple, cut into medium chunks
  • 500
    g
    fresh or frozen vegetable stir-fry mix
  • 150 - 200
    ml
    oyster sauce
 

Method

20 mins
 
Mix together the mince, spring onion, garlic, ginger, 5-spice, soy sauce and 15 ml sunflower oil.
Season to taste and form into walnut-sized balls.
Heat a little oil in a pan and lightly fry the balls in batches just until lightly browned.
Remove from pan and set aside.
Heat some fresh oil in a wok until smoking hot and add the onion and pineapple.
Toss until glossy then add the stir-fry vegetable mix.
Toss until piping hot.
Add the meatballs and oyster sauce and cook a further minute, tossing gently.
Remove from heat and serve with buttered noodles or rice.
