    large oranges, peeled and sliced

    pitted dates, chopped

    pecan nuts, chopped

    butter

    ml
    golden syrup
  • TOPPING
  • 150
    g
    cake flour
  • 50
    g
    cornflour
  • 3
    ml
    salt
  • 15
    ml
    baking powder
  • 75

    butter
  • 75
    g
    brown sugar
  • 1
    orange, grated rind
  • 2
    large eggs
  • 250
    ml
    milk
 

Method

40 minutes
 
1. Grease a 33 x 21 cm ovenproof dish. Cover bottom of dish with orange slices. Sprinkle evenly with raisins, dates and nuts. Chop butter into small pieces and dot evenly over fruit layer. Pour syrup over fruit. 2. TOPPING: Sift flour, cornflour, salt and baking powder together. Beat butter, sugar and orange rind together until light. 3. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with milk and mix until smooth. 4. Pour evenly over fruit base and bake in preheated 180 ºC oven for 40 minutes until golden brown. Serve with hot custard.
