Onion rings in batter

  • 250
    ml
    cake flour
  • 175
    ml
    soda water
  • 1
    extra-large egg
  • 2
    ml
    salt
  • 3
    large onions
  • milk
  • oil for deep-frying
  • cayenne pepper
 

Method

 
Beat together cake flour, soda water, egg and salt. Slice onions into fairly thick rings and soak in milk for 30 minutes. Drain, dip in the batter and deep-fry until crisp. Sprinkle with cayenne pepper and seasonings and serve with mayonnaise as a side dish.
