Ingredients (6)

vegetable oil — for deep frying
1 onion — sliced
flour — cake, for dusting
250 ml flour — self-raising
salt — just a pinch
250 ml beer

Method:

Heat oil in a large pot.
Dust the
onion rings with flour. In a bowl, combine the self-raising flour, salt and beer.
Whisk until smooth. Now work in batches: dip the rings in the batter, letting
the excess drip off.
Add the rings to the oil and fry, turning occasionally,
until crisp and golden. Remove and place on kitchen towel to drain.
Sprinkle
with extra salt.
Best served immediately.
