    oat bran
  • 375
    ml
    white bread flour
  • 250
    ml
    wholewheat ProNutro cereal
  • 5

    salt
  • 20
    ml
    baking powder
  • 20
    ml
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 200
    ml
    low-fat milk
  • 25
    ml
    water
 

Method

about one hour
 
Preheat the oven to 180 °C and grease a baking sheet.
Mix together the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Whisk together the egg, milk and water but not for longer than one minute.
Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just moistened.
Gather the dough into a ball with your hands, adding more oats if the dough sticks to your hands.
Cover the ball of dough with oats and shape into a round loaf.
Place it on the baking sheet and bake for about one hour or until done ? the loaf will sound hollow when tapped with your knuckles.
Serve fresh with braaivleis or soup.
The bread freezes well.
