    sunflower seeds

    pecan nuts, chopped

    bran flakes

    margarine, melted

    buttermilk

    green apple, peeled and grated
 

Method

45-60 min
 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease two 29 x 11 x 7 cm and one 23 x 11 x 7 cm loaf tins with margarine. Combine the dry ingredients. Add the brown sugar. Beat the eggs and add the remaining ingredients. Add to the dry ingredients. Mix well and turn the mixture into the prepared tins, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 45-60 minutes or until a testing skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of the loaves. Cool slightly and turn out onto a wire rack to cool further before cutting into fingers. Arrange the fingers on baking trays and dry out in a 100 ºC (200 ºF) oven. Store in airtight containers. Makes about 90 pieces.
