Nutty chocolate and lemon puffs

Ingredients

    g
    chocolate-coated peanuts or almonds
  • 1
    lemon or orange, the grated zest
  • 5
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 400
    g
    readymade puff pastry
 

Method

20 minutes
 
Coarsely chop nuts in a blender. Mix with the zest and cinnamon.
Cut pastry into 6 cm circles with a biscuit cutter. Place half the rings on a greased baking tray.
Place a spoonful of mixture in the centre of each, wet the edges with water and top with a pastry circle.
Press edges with a fork. Bake in preheated 200 °C oven for 15 minutes or until puffed and golden.
Serve hot or cold dusted with icing sugar.
VARIATION
Choc-nut spirals: Sprinkle filling onto the pastry, roll lengthwise, cut into 1 cm slices and bake until golden.
