Mushroom filling

    minced beef

    cooking oil

    shallots, sliced
  • 100

    mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1
    celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 10
    ml
    cornflour
  • 5
    ml
    sugar
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 15
    ml
    dry sherry
  • 10
    ml
    soy sauce
  • 100
    ml
    meat stock
 

Method

 
Fry meat in heated cooking oil in a heavy-based saucepan until it turns colour. Add shallots, mushrooms and celery. Sauté for 2 minutes. Add cornflour and stir for 1 minute. Heat remaining ingredients, add and simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Serve with Beer vetkoek (see recipe).
