  • Patties:
  • 1
    kg
    beef mince
  • 3
    slices of white bread, turned into crumbs in a food processor
  • 1
    onion finely chopped in a food processor
  • 2
    eggs
  • 180
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 180
    ml
    chutney
  • 60
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 30
    ml
    paprika
  • 15
    ml
    dry mixed herbs
  • Mini pita breads
  • Butter
  • Chutney
  • Caramelized onions:
  • 60
    ml
    butter
  • 15
    ml
    oil
  • 45
    ml
    brown sugar
  • 3 - 4
    large onions, peeled and sliced
 

Method

Form the mince mixture in small patties – 20 to24 patties.
Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
Spread mini pita breads with butter and a little bit of chutney.
Top with a beef patty and some caramelized onions.
Onions:
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, add the oil and sugar and simmer for 3 minutes.
Add the onion rings and simmer slowly, until caramelized, for 40 minutes.
