Mini meatballs

Ingredients

    ml
    red split lentils
  • 400
    g
    topside mince
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 0.50
    small pepper, finely chopped
  • 5
    ml
    finely chopped garlic
  • 10
    ml
    dried mixed herbs
  • 50
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 1
    egg, lightly whisked
  • 2
    ml
    salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 180
    ml
    oat bran or oats
 

Method

about 40 minutes
 
Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
Cook the lentils in boiling water until tender and drain well.
Mix the cooked lentils with the remaining ingredients, adding enough oat bran to form meatballs.
Make 24 meatballs and arrange them on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake for about 40 minutes or until done but not dry.
Turn them halfway through the cooking time.
Serve as a snack with sweet chilli sauce or a dip made of equal quantities of low-fat mayonnaise and chutney.
Hint: Use the mixture to make large hamburgers.
