Mexican meatballs

    onion, finely chopped
  • 1
    clove garlic, crushed

    slice white bread, crust removed, soaked in milk

    mustard powder
  • 2
    green chillies, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1
    egg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • SAUCE
  • 425

    tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 50
    ml
    chopped fresh parsley
  • 5
    ml
    cayenne pepper
  • 15
    ml
    sugar
  • 1
    ml
    ground cumin (jeera)
 

Method

 
Place onion, garlic and oil in a microwave dish. Cover partially with cling film and microwave for 2 minutes on 100 percent power. Combine mince with onion mixture. Add bread, mustard powder, chopped chillies and egg and season with salt and pepper. Blend well and shape into 8 - 10 meatballs. Arrange meatballs on glass turntable of the microwave oven and microwave for 5 minutes on 100 percent power. Turn meatballs and rearrange on glass turntable. Microwave for 5 minutes on 100 percent power. Blend ingredients for sauce in a glass bowl and microwave for 3 - 5 minutes on 100 percent power. Pour sauce over meatballs or serve separately with meatballs. Serves 4.
