    beef mince
  • 400
    g
    ostrich mince
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 420

    fresh breadcrumbs
  • 250
    ml
    Cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • 25
    ml
    hot chutney
  • 2
    extra-large eggs, lightly whisked
  • 250
    ml
    tomato purée
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 12
    rashers bacon
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC and butter a 9 x 26 cm loaf tin or spray with non-stick spray. Line the bottom of the tin with baking paper. Add all the ingredients, except the bacon to the mince and mix well. Spoon the meat mixture into the prepared tin and arrange the bacon rashers on top. Bake for about 1-1 1/2 hours until done. Turn out onto a serving platter and serve with vegetables, a salad and crispy bread rolls. Serves 4-6.
