Mealie meal pie with bully beef

    cooked mealie meal porridge

    onion, sliced into rings

    bully beef, diced
  • 250
    frozen peas
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Cheddar cheese, grated


Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Spray a 26 cm ovenproof dish with non-stick spray. Rapidly mix the whisked egg with the hot porridge. Pour half the mealie meal mixture into the prepared pie dish so the base is covered. Sauté the onion in a little oil until tender and translucent. Add the diced bully beef. Pour boiling water over the frozen peas. Drain and add to the onion mixture. Pour the onion mixture into the pie dish and spread evenly. Spoon the rest of the mealie meal porridge on top, spreading carefully until the bully beef mixture is covered. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve with a green salad. Serves 4-6.
