Marinated fish salad (Ceviche de Pescado)

Ingredients

  • 500
    g
    fresh white fish fillets, very thinly sliced
  • 125
    ml
    lemon or lime juice
  • 1
    clove garlic, crushed
  • 1
    chilli, finely chopped
  • 1
    onion, cut into strips
  • 2
    sticks celery, sliced
  • 50
    ml
    freshly chopped coriander
  • lettuce leaves, to serve
  • 2
    sweet potatoes, boiled peeled and sliced
  • 3
    mealies, boiled and sliced
  • lemon wedges, to serve
 

Method

 
1. Place slices of fish in a glass bowl. Add lemon juice and garlic and marinate for one hour. 2. Add chilli, onion, celery, coriander and seasoning to taste and allow to marinate for a further hour. 3. Serve on a bed of lettuce along with the sweet potato, mealie slices and lemon wedges.
