    lukewarm water

    tomato and onion mix
  • nutmeg
  • origanum
  • basil

    savoury mince

    Cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • 200

    fresh button mushrooms, halved
  • 125

    bacon, cut into smaller pieces
  • finely chopped fresh parsley
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease a baking tray. Combine the cake flour, instant yeast, salt and sugar. Add just enough water to form a fairly slack dough. Mix well. Press the dough into the prepared baking tray, pressing the dough up against the sides of the tray. Boil to reduce the tomato and onion mix until most of the liquid has evaporated. Season to taste with nutmeg, origanum and basil. Spoon the mixture over the vetkoek dough. Spread the mince on top and sprinkle with the Cheddar cheese, halved button mushrooms, bacon and a little parsley and origanum. Bake for about 20-30 minutes or until the base is baked through and lightly crisped and the cheese has melted. Makes 1 large pizza.
