    maize meal

    (1 can) whole kernel corn, drained

    sour milk (maas)

    onion, chopped
  • 1
    clove garlic, chopped

    mince
  • 1
    green pepper, chopped
  • 3
    large tomatoes, chopped
  • 45
    ml
    tomato paste
  • 5
    ml
    mixed dried herbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 250
    ml
    grated Cheddar cheese
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 200 °C.
Sift together cake flour, maize meal, baking powder and salt.
Add corn and sour milk.
Knead well to form a stiff, but pliable dough.
Roll out onto a round or rectangular shape and place on a greased baking sheet.
In a pan, heat oil and fry onion and garlic until transparent.
Add mince and cook until browned.
Add green pepper, tomatoes, tomato paste and herbs.
Leave to simmer till cooked through, for about 20 minutes.
Spoon mince mixture on top of the dough base and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Bake for about 30 minutes.
