Macaroni cheese - Sheena's recipe

  • 250
    g
    egg noodles
  • 2
    grated onions
  • 500
    g
    grated cheese
  • breadcrumbs
  • 2
    eggs, beaten with
  • 250
    ml
    milk
  • 5
    ml
    butter
 

Method

 
Cook noodles in a saucepan filled with boiling, salted water.
Grease a casserole dish, place a layer of noodles on the bottom.
Mix onions and 250 g cheese.
Place the mixture on top of the noodles.
Add another layer of noodles; cover with remaining cheese and a layer of breadcrumbs.
Pour over egg and milk mixture and dot with butter.
Bake at 150 °C for about 1 hour.
NOTE:This could also be made using a basic white sauce with cheese and adding 1 sliced tomato, sprinkled with parsley, between layers of noodles.
