Macaroni bites

    large onion, finely chopped
  • oil
  • 250
    uncooked macaroni
  • 430
    soft breadcrumbs
  • 3
    eggs, beaten
  • salt and pepper to taste

Sauté the onion in a little oil until soft. In the meantime, boil the macaroni in rapidly boiling salted water until soft. Drain and mash. Add to the onion in the pan, along with the breadcrumbs and beaten eggs. Season well with salt and pepper. Heat enough oil in a saucepan for deep-frying and fry spoonfuls of the mixture until golden brown and cooked. Drain on paper towelling. Makes about 25 bites.
