Lentil soup

Ingredients

    ml
    butter
  • 2
    large onions, peeled and chopped
  • 1
    clove of garlic, chopped
  • 4
    carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 3
    sticks of celery
  • 500
    ml
    lentils
  • 2
    l
    chicken stock
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 2
    ml
    dried basil
  • 15
    ml
    dried parsley
  • 15
    ml
    lemon juice
  • 125
    g
    bacon, chopped
 

Method

2 hours
 
Heat the butter, add the onions and fry over medium heat till brown.
Add the garlic, carrots and celery and sauté for 4 minutes.
Add the lentils, chicken stock, bay leaves, basil parsley and lemon juice and simmer on low heat for 2 hours.
Fry the bacon, till crispy and add to the soup just before serving.
