Lentil dish

    large onion, chopped

    cinnamon sticks

    cloves
  • oil

    savoury soya mince
  • 3
    carrots, scraped clean and cut into pieces
  • 500
    ml
    red lentils
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 2
    ml
    cayenne pepper
  • 2
    Litres
    water
  • chopped parsley
 

Method

 
Sauté the onion, cinnamon and cloves in a little oil until the onion is soft. Add the soya mince and stir-fry lightly. Add the carrots and lentils, and season with the bay leaf and cayenne pepper. Add the water, cover and simmer till the soya mince and lentils are cooked, adding more water if necessary. Season with salt and sprinkle with a handful of chopped parsley. Serve with rice. Serves 6.
