Ingredients (11)

CAKE
2.00 eggs — extra-large
65.00 ml sugar
30.00 ml butter
65.00 ml milk
190.00 ml flour — cake
5.00 ml Baking powder
salt — pinch
3.00 ml vanilla — essence
2.00 ml almond essence
SYRUP
45.00 ml golden syrup — or honey
45.00 ml butter

Method:

Preheat the oven to 190 ºC (375 ºF). Grease a 20 x 20 cm glass dish with butter, or spray with non-stick spray. Beat the eggs well and beat in the sugar. Heat butter and milk until the butter melts. Sift the dry ingredients together and fold into the egg mixture. Add the melted butter mixture and the essences. Mix lightly. Turn into the prepared dish and bake until done. Remove from the oven. Meanwhile melt the golden syrup or honey and butter. When hot, pour over they cake. Serve while still warm, cut into cubes.
Makes one medium cake.
