Jenny's fish pie

    onion, finely chopped

    allspice

    ground nutmeg

    freshly chopped parsley

    salt

    mild curry powder

    masala for curry
  • 5

    white vinegar

    tomato, skinned and finely chopped
  • 1
    green pepper, seeded and diced
  • 425

    pilchards in tomato sauce, drained
  • 200
    ml
    bran
  • 150
    ml
    Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4
    extra-large eggs, whisked
 

Method

30-40 min
 
Spray an ovenproof dish with non-stick spray or grease well. Fry the onion in a little oil until tender and translucent. Add the allspice, nutmeg, parsley and salt. Blend the curry powder and masala with the vinegar. Add to the onion mixture. Add the tomato and green pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Add the flaked fish. Mix in the bran and a little of the cheese. Mix in the whisked eggs. Pour into the prepared dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake for about 30-40 minutes or until the filling has set and is firm. Serves 4.
