Italian open sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 300
    g
    minced meat
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • oil
  • 60
    ml
    mild chilli sauce
  • 30
    ml
    water
  • 30
    ml
    freshly chopped basil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1
    clove garlic, crushed
  • 4
    large slices Italian or rye bread
  • 60
    g
    mozzarella cheese or grated Cheddar cheese
  • 2
    tomatoes, sliced
 

Method

15 mins
 
Heat oil and brown mince, onion and garlic.
Add chilli sauce, water, herbs and seasoning.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Fry bread slices in oil.
Cut cheese into pieces.
Divide mince on bread slices and place cheese and tomatoes on top.
Grill at 250 ºC for three minutes or until cheese starts to melt.
Garnish with olives and herbs.
Serve with a salad.
