    sugar
  • 400
    ml
    water
  • 1
    lemon (rind only)
  • 2
    cinnamon sticks
  • 1
    kg
    mixed dried fruit
  • 100
    ml
    brandy
 

Method

Keep a bottle of brandied fruit on hand to enjoy after dinner through the winter months. Place sugar, water, lemon rind and cinnamon sticks into a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Continue to boil gently for 3 minutes. Add mixed dried fruit and brandy to the syryp. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, remove from the heat and preserve in sterilised jars for up to 3 months.
