Hot apples with caramel sauce and nutty phyllo twists

Method:

Cut each apple in 4 from stalk to flower and remove the core.
Now cut each piece into thick slices.
Melt butter in a wide, shallow pan.
When it starts to sizzle, add apple pieces and turn down the heat.
Cook apples slowly until tender (about 5 minutes), taking care to control the heat so the butter doesn’t burn.
Remove apples with a soft spoon into warm bowls.Add cream and allow the sauce to bubble for a minute or two, then spoon over the apples.
Serve with ice cream and a nutty phyllo twist.

NUTTY PHYLLO TWISTS:
Brush 4 sheets of phyllo pastry with melted butter and layer them on top of one another.
Cut into 10 cm squares, and sprinkle with chopped nuts and cinnamon sugar.
Twist into rolls and bake at 180 ºC for 10 minutes, until golden brown.
Drizzle with some runny honey while they’re still warm.
