Hazelnut and orange cigars

    hazelnuts, finely ground
  • 100
    g
    icing sugar, sifted
  • 90
    g
    butter
  • 30
    ml
    orange juice
  • 1
    orange, the zest
  • 2
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 1
    large egg yolk
  • 4
    sheets phyllo pastry
 

Method

20 minutes
 
Mix the nuts, icing sugar, 30 g butter, orange juice, zest and cinnamon in a saucepan.
Stir over a low heat for five minutes.
Add the egg yolk and stir quickly to combine. Leave to cool.
Melt the remaining butter. Place a piece of phyllo pastry on a clean surface, brush with butter. Cut into four pieces.
Repeat with another two layers of pastry. Divide the filling into eight and roll into sausage shapes.
Place sausages on a piece of pastry and roll to close, folding in the edges.
Brush with butter and place on a greased baking tray.
Bake in a preheated 180 °C oven for 20 minutes and enjoy warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
