Guava crumble

    unblemished, firm guavas, skinned and halved

    grated lemon rind
  • 100

    sugar
  • 30

    brandy (optional)

    ml
    water
  • 15
    ml
    lemon juice
  • CRUMBLE

    oats
  • 80
    ml
    pecan or walnuts, finely chopped
  • 30
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 30
    ml
    butter, melted
 

Method

 
Remove the guava pips if desired and arrange the fruit in an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle with the lemon rind and sugar. Blend the brandy, water and lemon juice and pour over the guavas. Combine all the ingredients for the crumble and sprinkle over the fruit. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the guavas are soft and the crumble mixture is golden brown. Serve with thin cream or plain yoghurt. Serves 6.
