Grilled sirloin steak in blue cheese marinade

Ingredients (8)

1.00 kg sirloin steaks
5.00 ml salt and freshly ground back pepper
SAUCE
5.00 ml stock powder — beef
125.00 ml salad dressing — blue cheese
30.00 ml blue cheese — crumbled
15.00 ml nescafé instant coffee granules — dissolved in water
30.00 ml water — boiled
30.00 ml whiskey

Method:

Rub the sirloin well with the salt and pepper. Mix the stock powder with the salad dressing and crumbled blue cheese. Dissolve the coffee granules in the boiling water and add to the sauce along with the whisky. Pour over the meat and marinate for at least 3-4 hours at room temperature.
Cook the meat in a Weber or gas braai. Brown rapidly over hot coals, then raise the grill for the rest of the cooking time. Cook the meat slowly until medium done and still pink inside – about 40-60 minutes. Turn the meat frequently, basting with the marinade. Keep the lid on while cooking. Leave the sirloin to rest for 10 minutes before carving. Bring the rest of the marinade to the boiL and serve with the meat, accompanied by a fresh green salad. Serves 6.
