Green apple chutney

    kg
    green apples, cored and peeled
  • 2
    onions, finely chopped
  • 500
    g
    sultanas
  • 600
    g
    sugar
  • 10
    ml
    salt
  • 10
    ml
    mustard seeds
  • 1
    Litres
    white grape vinegar
  • 2
    ml
    cayenne pepper
 

Method

Dice the apples. Place the diced apples in a large saucepan along with the remaining ingredients. Heat slowly, stirring continuously until all the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about one and a half hours or until the mixture is no longer watery. Stir every now and then. Bottle the chutney while still hot. Makes 1 litre of chutney.
