    peeled and chopped ripe tomatoes
  • 250

    peeled and chopped cooking apples

    medium onions, sliced
  • 75
    ml
    vinegar (or more to taste)
  • 125
    ml
    sugar
  • 7
    ml
    salt
  • 7
    ml
    ground cloves
  • 7
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 2
    ml
    black pepper
  • cayenne pepper to taste
 

Method

 
Place all ingredients in a large heavy-based saucepan and cook until mixture thickens. Purée in a food processor or blender and pack in hot, sterilised jars. Seal. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 3 060 kJ (730 Cal). Makes about 625 ml (2 1/2 cups)
