Ingredients (15)

3.00 onions — large, coarsely chopped
2.00 garlic — cloves, crushed
1.00 green pepper — diced
250.00 g bacon — cut into small pieces
375.00 g sausages — Russain-style, sliced
3.00 potatoes — peeled and diced
3.00 carrots — scraped and sliced
3.00 tomatoes — peeled and coarsely chopped
2.00 Litres water
2.00 bay leaves
410.00 g butter beans
410.00 g baked beans in tomato sauce
5.00 ml paprika
salt and freshly ground black pepper — to taste
fresh parsley — chopped

Method:

In a large saucepan, fry the onion, garlic, green pepper, bacon and sausages until soft and until the bacon and sausages are done. Add the vegetables and boiling water or chicken stock. Add the bay leaves and half the beans, along with the liquid. Simmer until the vegetables are soft and cooked. Add the remaining beans along with the liquid. Add the seasonings. Simmer well and sprinkle with chopped parsley just before serving. Serve with fresh bread.
Serves 8-10.
