Method

 
Grease a 20 x 30 cm pie dish. Slice the Swiss roll into 1 cm thick slices and arrange in the bottom of the dish. Drain and chop the fruit, reserving the syrup. Heat the fruit and syrup. Meanwhile mix the custard powder and castor sugar with a little water to form a paste. Mix a little of the hot syrup with the paste and add to the fruit. Bring to the boil and simmer until thickened. Stir continuously. Spoon the fruit over the Swiss roll. Beat the condensed milk and lemon juice together and mix with the cottage cheese. Sprinkle the gelatine over the water and leave to sponge. Heat until just melted and mix into the cottage cheese mixture. Fold in the whipped cream, spoon over the fruit layer and chill until set.
