Fish in creamy mushroom and garlic sauce

    hake steaks, thawed

    seasoned flour, for dusting

    butter
  • 1
    juice and grated zest of lemon

    brown mushrooms, sliced
  • 3
    cloves garlic, crushed

    cream
 

Method

1. Dust the fish steaks with flour. Heat 30g of the butter in a frying pan and fry the fish over medium heat for two to three minutes on each side, or until the fish bakes easily. Remove from the pan and drizzle with lemon juice. Set aside and keep warm.

2. Heat the remaining butter in a clean pan. Fry the mushrooms and garlic for two minutes, then add the lemon zest. Reduce the heat and add the cream. Once heated through, remove from the heat and season to taste.
3. Spoon the sauce over the fish and serve with grilled vegetables and baked potatoes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if you like.

*Cook's tip
Use ready-made cheese sauce instead of cream .
