Ingredients (13)

1.25 kg nutty wheat flour
15 ml salt
45 ml brown sugar
90 ml wheatgerm
70 ml sesame seeds
70 ml linseeds
70 ml poppy seeds
70 ml crushed wheat
250 ml raisins
125 ml nuts — of your choice
10 g dried instant yeast
1.25 l water — lukewarm
olive oil

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

Prepare 4 medium sized bread pans by spraying them with Spray ‘n Cook.

Mix all the dry ingredients in a big mixing bowl.

Add the water to the dry ingredients and mix well. Spoon into the bread tins and use a pastry brush and brush the dough with olive oil.

Sprinkle some seeds of your choice over the top. Allow to stand for a 30 minute proof.

Bake the breads for 45 – 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the bread.

Serve with real farm butter and jam.

Tip: Buttermilk is used instead of water when bicarbonate of soda or baking powder is used instead of yeast.
