Easy caramel sauce

  • 500
    ml
    cream
  • 65
    ml
    golden syrup
  • 125
    ml
    castor sugar
  • 10
    ml
    cornflour
 

Method

 
Heat the cream, syrup and sugar over low heat, stirring until the castor sugar has dissolved. Simmer slowly for 15 minutes or until the sauce turns a caramel color. Stir occasionally as the sauce is inclined to boil over. Blend the cornflour with a little cold water to form a smooth paste and thicken the sauce with the mixture. Simmer until cooked and the sauce has thickened slightly. Makes 500 ml (2 c) sauce.
