Dutch meat balls

    g
    Minced lean beef
  • 4
    Smoked bacon, thinly sliced
  • 3
    Speculaas cookies
  • 1 1/2
    Tbs
    Sweet Indonesian soya sauce
  • 1
    Tbs
    Sambal bajak- chilli sauce
  • 1
    Tbs
    Butter
 

Method

Cut the bacon into very thin strips and chop finely.

Pound the cookies into fine crumbs and combine this with the speculaas spices, the Indonesian soya sauce, the sambal olek and the bacon and combine thoroughly with the ground beef.

Roll the mixture into balls and heat the butter in a large pan.

Pop them all in and fry for about 10 minutes on low heat until they are golden brown, drain on absorbent kitchen paper and serve while warm with a little extra sambal olek.
