Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Heat milk in a pan.
In a bowl, beat eggs, egg yolk and sugar.
Pour the warmed milk into the egg mixture, stirring all the time.
Break the bread into chunks and arrange in a baking dish.
Dot with butter, scatter fruit over and pour over the milk-and-egg mixture.
Let stand for 30 minutes.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
Leave to cool slightly and dust with icing sugar.
