Dried fruit cheese roll (mebos)

  • 125
    g
    glazed fruit, chopped
  • 25
    ml
    port or sherry
  • 250
    g
    cream cheese
  • 80
    g
    Cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • 5
    ml
    lemon peel, grated
  • pinch salt
  • poppy seeds
 

Method

 
Soak the fruit in the port or sherry. Mix all the ingredients, except the poppy seeds, and chill until slightly hard. Place on wax paper and shape into a roll. Freeze. Just before serving, roll in poppy seeds and slice. Serve with bran and cheese biscuits (see recipe). Serves 4.
