Dilly beer bread

    g
    bread or cake flour
  • 7
    ml
    salt
  • 20
    ml
    baking powder
  • 2
    ml
    bicarbonate of soda
  • 30
    ml
    brown sugar
  • 30
    ml
    chopped fresh dill (or half as much dried)
  • 340
    ml
    beer
 

Method

1 hour
 
1. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. 2. Add sugar and dill. Mix thoroughly. 3. Make a well in the centre and pour in the beer. Stir to combine, then knead lightly to form a stiff dough. 4. Place dough in a well-greased small loaf tin and bake in a preheated oven at 160 ºC for 1 hour, or until done. Test with a skewer. 5. Turn out on to a wire rack to cool before serving. Makes 1 loaf.
