Decadent Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

    ml
    flour
  • 375
    ml
    castor sugar
  • 200
    ml
    Nestlé Cocoa
  • 5
    ml
    salt
  • 7
    ml
    bicarbonate of soda
  • 375
    ml
    water
  • 5
    ml
    vanilla essence
  • 280
    ml
    mayonnaise
  • 125
    ml
    chopped cherries (optional)
  • 50
    g
    coarsely chopped walnut or pecans (optional)
  • Topping:
  • 1
    tin Nestlé Treat
  • 200
    g
    Nestlé Easy Melt Dark chocolate, melted
 

Method

1 hour
 
Preheat oven to 180.
Grease a 22 cm square cake pan.
Sift dry ingredients together twice.
Mix water, vanilla and mayonnaise together and add to the dry ingredients.
Mix lightly.
Fold in cherries and nuts, if using.
Spoon batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until done.
Turn out to cool.
Combine the TREAT and melted EASY MELT together and spread over cooled cake.
Decorate as desired.
If serving as a dessert, simply omit the topping and serve warm, with custard, cream or ice cream.
