    cake flour
  • 60
    g
    mealie meal
  • 2
    ml
    salt
  • 5
    ml
    baking powder
  • 250
    ml
    milk
  • margarine
 

Method

 
Mix the cake flour, mealie meal, salt and baking powder together in a mixing bowl. Add the milk and blend to form a smooth batter. (Stir with a wire whisk). Leave for a few minutes. Place a few pieces of margarine in the heated skottelbraai or in a pan. Drop tablespoons of the mixture onto the skottel and fry until brown underneath and air bubbles have formed on top. Flip the crumpets over with an egg flip and fry until cooked and brown on the other side. Serve with a fruit spread (see recipes).
