Creamy bacon sauce

    butter
  • 250

    bacon, cut into strips
  • 250

    fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 5
    ml
    garlic pepper
  • 5
    ml
    parsley
  • 500
    ml
    cream
  • 300
    ml
    peas, cooked
  • 5
    ml
    cornflour, mixed with a little water to form a paste (optional)
  • 500
    g
    spaghetti
  • Parmesan cheese
 

Method

 
Sauté bacon in butter until crisp, then add mushrooms and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add seasoning and herbs, mix well and cook for 30 seconds before adding cream and peas. Bring to the boil, simmer for 4-5 minutes then thicken with cornflour if necessary. Cook pasta according to instructions on the packaging, drain and place on a warm serving dish. Pour sauce over pasta, toss lightly and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serves 4.
