Cottage pie with beans

    medium potatoes, peeled and diced

    butter
  • 50
    ml
    milk
  • vegetable oil
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 300
    g
    lean beef mince
  • 1
    can
    baked beans in tomato sauce
  • 5
    ml
    dried mixed herbs
  • 200
    ml
    frozen peas
 

Method

Preheat the oven to grill.

Add the potatoes to a pot of salted water and boil until tender. Drain and mash with the butter and milk. Season to taste.
Add a little oil to a pan and sauté the onion until soft. Add the mince and brown well. Add the beans and herbs and simmer for five minutes. Season to taste, add the peas and transfer to an ovenproof dish. Top with the mash and place under a hot grill for a few minutes, until golden brown.
