Ingredients (8)

500.00 ml milk
5.00 eggs — beaten
15.00 ml cinnamon — ground or mixed spice
salt — just a pinch
10.00 bread — thick slices or milk loaf or challah
125.00 ml oil
75.00 g butter
strawberries — or cling peaches

Method:

1. Whisk milk, eggs, cinnamon and salt together. Place a slice of bread into milk mixture to soak, turn over. Repeat with remaining slices. 2. Heat a large frying pan with oil, add butter. When bubbling, fry drained slice of soggy bread. Fry until golden brown on one side before turning over, continue cooking until golden. Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately with syrup and fresh fruit.
