Ingredients (9)

250.00 g margarine — hard
200.00 g sugar
5.00 ml vanilla — essence
1.00 eggs
480.00 g flour — cake
10.00 ml Baking powder
5.00 ml salt
25.00 ml water
glacé cherries — to garnish

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 200 ºC and grease a baking sheet.
2. Cream the margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla essence and the egg. Mix well.
3. Sift the dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture with 20 to 25 ml water to form a dough that can be rolled out.
4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured board to a thickness of about 3 mm. Cut out shapes using fancy cutters. Decorate with glacé cherries.
5. Place on greased baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
6. The biscuits can also be iced and decorated.
