Ingredients (16)

CRUST
250.00 g butter
1.00 eggs — lightly whisked
45.00 ml cocoa powder
10.00 ml vanilla — essence
500.00 ml icing sugar
200.00 g Marie biscuits — crushed
CHOCOLATE TOPPING
150.00 g flour — cake
5.00 ml Baking powder
2.00 ml salt
45.00 ml cocoa powder
125.00 ml castor sugar
500.00 ml oats
100.00 g butter — soft
60.00 ml molasses — or syrup
60.00 ml honey
150.00 ml milk

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF). Spray a 35 x 27 cm baking sheet with non-stick spray.
Melt the butter for the crust in a saucepan and add all the ingredients, except the biscuits. Stir well, then add the biscuits.
Turn into the prepared baking sheet, pressing flat with a fork. Set aside to harden.
In a mixing bowl, sift together all the dry ingredients, except the oats. Add the oats and mix.
Melt the remaining ingredients in a saucepan or the microwave oven and add to the dry ingredients. Stir well and spoon the batter on top of the crust. Bake for 20 minutes or until done. Cut into squares when completely cool. Decorate with chocolate vermicelli and silver beads.
Store in the fridge.
Makes about 60 squares.
